Questions & Answers About Buying a Property
Finding the right property begins with a clear set of requirements—not with the number of viewings. In our initial consultation, we clarify your preferred location, size, finishing standard, timeframe and financial framework. We identify what is essential to you and what remains flexible. On this basis, we review properties available in the Freiamt region, the Bremgarten district, as well as Zurich and Central Switzerland. We assess their condition and development potential, and we will also tell you which properties are not the right fit.
In addition to the purchase price, costs are incurred for notarisation and registration in the land register. Depending on the canton, there may also be a property transfer tax or a land register fee. The amount of these costs and how they are allocated between buyer and seller depend on cantonal law and the agreement set out in the purchase contract. The relevant notary and municipal tax authority can provide binding information. Further costs include financing charges, insurance, moving expenses, maintenance and any renovations. We help you assess these at an early stage.
A purchase is worthwhile when the rental income, condition of the property and your investment horizon align—and when you understand the expected expenses over the coming years. Key considerations include location and letting potential, financing structure, building quality and foreseeable maintenance. For upcoming renovations, we prepare a preliminary cost estimate based on the Swiss Building Cost Plan (BKP). You should also review return projections with your bank and trustee before making a decision.
